Serving children ages 3-18 in the child welfare system, Heart of Adoptions Alliance, Inc identifies families best suited to embrace and manage the specialized needs of Florida’s waiting children. The process- from navigation to placement, to counseling and coaching- helps to promote success and ultimate well-being for the child and the family.

Intercountry Adoption

Intercountry Adoption

Heart of Adoptions Alliance, Inc. works with families interested in adopting children all over the world. Adopting internationally is often referred to as intercountry adoption. International adoption over the years has changed, and the profiles of children needing homes has changed. Historically,  adoptive parents habitually residing in the United States sought to adopt healthy infant girls, but they are now finding families in the birth countries. Children with special needs, older children and boys are typically more available for international adoption. We can provide the expertise to help adoptive parents identify international adoption options. Our intercountry adoption services include international home studies, outgoing placements, post-placement and post-adoptions supervision and counseling, Dossier preparation, adoption education, USCIS support, networking, Florida adoption finalization and recertification assistance.

In matched situations where an adoptive family has already identified birth parents, fees typically range from $7,000 to $13,000 depending on the extent services will be provided.

Yes, Florida law permits adoptive parents to provide the actual and reasonable living expenses during the pregnancy and up to a maximum of six weeks following delivery if the birth mother is unemployed, underemployed or suffering from a medically diagnosed disability. This typically is handled through the agency.

The birth mother usually makes a “dream family list” that identifies the qualities important to her in an adoptive family. She is then presented with several families on our list that meet her requests and who have comfort levels matching her various social and medical history. She then selects from those families. Occasionally, birth mothers prefer us to select the adoptive family, and this is done in chronological order taking into consideration social/medical situations.

The average age of children waiting in the foster care system on an adoptive home is between the ages of 8 and 10 years of age.

We encourage families to investigate their local county programs. There is a great need for foster parents in Florida! Many counties require that families foster first or foster only. The goal of the Hearts to Home program is to focus on the youth in care who are awaiting adoptive homes. We work with all 67 counties in Florida to provide foster-to-adopt homes for these youths. We also work out of state!

Yes. Adopting children from foster care is typically less expensive than domestic infant adoption. Adoption tax credits are often available to most families adopting through the Hearts to Home Program. We ask that families attend an Information Night and schedule a one-on-one meeting with a program representative to get an in-depth understanding of the fee structure.
